Eclipse Technique with Merry Patterns set
Merry Patterns is the set I'm using yet again. Today I'm using Merry Patterns to highlight a technique that is popular all over the Stampin' Up! blogs. I'm just late to the party. (Wouldn't be the first time...). This technique is called 3D Eclipse. It can be used with almost any die, but its been most popular when used with the Stampin' Up! Large Letter Framelits or the Happy Birthday Thinlit. Today's card continues with the Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White color combinations I've been working with since early last week.
The basecard for today's card is Whisper White, then a layer of Cherry Cobbler, and then another Whisper White layer. The top Whisper White layer is stamped with the Elk image in Cherry Cobbler and the pine boughs in Garden Green. Then the Large Letter Framelits are used to cut the word "NOEL" from the stamped Whisper White layer. While I used NOEL for my Christmas Card or Winter theme, you could use several other words such as Joy, Hope, Faith, Peace, Snow, or use the Happy Birthday thinlit with this technique for a December Birthday card. You could also use it for short names.

The layers are assembled, and then the cut out letters are mounted on Foam Adhesive Strips, which are thicker than our Dimensional. The Cherry Cobbler layer peeks through the raised letters giving you a very interesting effect.
I added a Garden Green bow to the top of my card using 3/8" Garden Green Stitched Ribbon from the main catalog. I mistakenly thought this technique would be extremely difficult, and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy and fast this technique was to complete.
Here's a sneak peek at all 8 cards I've created with the Merry Patterns set. I've been having a great time working with this set because it is so easy to work with. You can see closeups of the previous cards by scrolling through my previous posts from Monday, Tuesday and Thursday last week, and stay tuned as I post more closeups of completed cards throughout this week.
Merry Patterns is a great set that you can't buy, but you can get it FREE with a $300 (less tax and shipping) order placed before the end of October...just hours away. So don't delay!
