Stampin' Up! Perfectly Plaid
Ever wonder why tartan plaid reminds you of Christmas? Apparently tartan plaid was created to commemorate the Christian festival of Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. The tartan plaid is inspired by the spirit of Christmas colors. Green represents Frankincense. Red represents Myrrh. Yellow represents gold, the color of kingship. Also, plaid is the Welsh word for party. And in the UK in the 1700's if you decided to wear plaid, you could have been caught for rebellion. There are 7,000 tartan plaids created all over the world and this number is still growing. All tartans are plaid; but not all plaids are tartan. Plaid is a symbolism of many different things, all of which are great! We're lucky to have a suite of wonderful plaids to use to help us celebrate Christmas; Fall in love with the the Wrapped in Plaid Suite.
The basecard for this card is Thick Whisper White. Then a layer of Shaded Spruce. Then a layer of Crumb Cake.
The sentiments are from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp set, and stamped in Shaded Spruce onto the Crumb Cake layer.

I die cut the largest Stitched Circle Die out of Whisper White. I also cut a smaller circle using the Layer Circle Dies out of Crumb Cake. I punched a Pine Tree using the Pine Tree punch to use as a template of where I wanted my opening to appear in the Stitched Whisper White Circle, held it in place with a glue dot and punched the Pine Tree.
I then turned the Stitched Circle to the backside on top the Crumb Cake circle and stamped the tree image from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set through the opening onto the Crumb Cake. That way, I avoided getting ink on the front side of the Stitched Whisper White circle. Then I positioned the tree inside the Whisper White Stitched circle and glued the Crumb Cake circle and the Stitched Whisper White Circle together. I mounted the Stitched Circle layer on Dimensionals before adding it to the card.
You probably don't recognize the Gold 1/4" Shimmer Ribbon I used for my bow. It is a new ribbon that will be available November 1. Look for item # 152156. It is a beautiful match to all of our Wrapped In Plaid Designer Series Papers, which have a gold foil thread running through one side of all the Plaids.
To finish the card, I cut a swirl using the Stitched Stars Dies out of Gold Foil Sheets, and added it to the card, along with three Gold Metallic Pearls. You'll love everything you make with the Wrapped in Plaid Suite.

How do you tie your bows in Christmas is Coming?
ReplyDeleteMy husband made me a wooden bow maker that I've been using for years. He's made a bunch for my classes as well. Here's a post that shows the wooden bow maker: https://www.stampedsophisticates.com/search?q=Bow+maker
