There were soo many Stampin' Up! events taking place this week end. Demonstrators and customers groups were visited by Stampin' Up! Home Office personnel who helped celebrated Stampin' Up!'s 35th Anniversary at local events hosted by Demonstrators. Here in Houston TX we had our own crafting play date and celebration hosted by Carole Corey with Demonstrators and customers joined by Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Sharon Armstrong. Sharon led us in one of her signature Mystery Stamping Session. Today's cards are what I created during the live Mystery Stamping Session. I used the Darling Details Stamp Set and Dies Bundle and Designer Series Paper from the Flowers and More Designer Series Paper Pack, a Host gift from the January - May Mini Catalog, to make two versions of this card layout. Note: Mystery Stamping is a great way to use up retired Designer Series Paper, AND, sooo much fun!
What's Mystery Stamping, you ask? Sharon Armstrong has been doing Mystery Stamping at least since 2013 for her teammates, and has been doing them online, usually every Monday evening at 7 PM Central streamed on her YouTube Channel: TXStampinSharon,
She provides clues for making a handmade card, by giving you cutting dimensions for cardstock, Designer Series Paper, and other supplies you need to gather. You use supplies you already have in your craft stash. Then, during her Monday evening Mystery Stamping YouTube, she gives you additional clues for assembling your card.
The fun comes when everyone shares their finished cards. This Saturday was the first time Sharon presented Mystery Stamping live to an in-person group. And, you can see the results in the photos below. We had a blast! Every card is different depending on the papers and die cuts each person chose to use. The layouts are the same. My cards, using Sharon Armstrong's Mystery Stamping Directions, were created using an 11 X 4-1/4" Thick Basic White Card Base. Then I added a layer of Granny Apply Green, and then a layer of the Flower's and More Designer Series Paper. Then, I choose a coordinating pattern from the Flowers & More Designer Series Paper for the elements in the center of my card. I used two pieces, both matted with Granny Apply Green, and Sharon's instructions were to overlap the two elements.
Next, I used the Dies from the Stampin' Up! Darling Details Stamp Set and Die Bundle and die cut flowers and stems and leaves to add to my cards. I die cut some in Granny Apple Green and another in Daffodil Delight Cardstock. I also fussy cut flowers from another print in the Designer Series Paper Pack, since I wasn't sure if they were needed for decoration or not, and decided to try them on one of my cards.
Finally, Sharon provided us dimensions for the sentiment layers, and I stamped sentiments from the Darling Details Stamp Set in Granny Apple Green onto the sentiment layers. I added a few gems for bling from the Glossy Dots Assortment. I enjoyed getting out of my comfort zone and creating a card without knowing how the final layout would turn out. Mystery stamping will challenge you, and I highly recommend giving it a try.
