Embrace the warmth of tradition with a Hanukkah card project that transports you back in time. As Hanukkah approaches in 90 days, lets craft a card that sparks nostalgia and prepare our hearts for the Festival of Lights. The Designer Series Papers in the Stampin' Up! Green & Gold Suite Collection includes a crop of gold and creme vegetation that compliments the gold menorah embossed on this card. I'm using a retired stamp set called Hebrew Holidays for my Menorah image, and I'm using Hanukkah sentiments from the current Celebrate the Miracle Stamp Set for the inside of my card. My color theme is Very Vanilla and Gold Foil Sheets. I used Stitched Rectangle Dies to create one of the Gold foil layers for my card. The Menorah was heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. A bow of 1/4" Gold Shimmer Ribbon was added along with Gold pearls from the Red & Green Adhesive-backed Pearls set. While the entire Season of Green & Gold Suite Collection is due back in stock the week of December 7, the designer series specialty papers, vellum, and both stamp sets and dies from this suite are available now. The basecard for today's card is Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock. Then, a layer of Gold Foil Sheets is used as a matte for a vanilla and gold foil foliage print from the Season of Green & Gold 12" X 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper. Than a Retired Stitched Rectangle Die is used to create a smaller matte of Gold Foil Sheet for the Very Vanilla image layer. I've mixed a number of my favorite retired products with current products, to create the warmth I wanted to convey with this card, and because I hate to see many of my retired favorite languish -- unused-- when they are perfectly beautiful mixed with current products.
The Menorah image from the retired Hebrew Holidays Stamp Set was stamped in Versamark ink, covered with Gold Embossing Powder, and set with my Heat tool. The current Celebrate the Miracle Stamp Set, Item #165131 | $24.00 USD, an Online Exclusive, also includes a Menorah image, which I could have used for this card, but I wanted to offer this card as part of a class and decided the image from Hebrew Holidays would be easier for stampers as it is a single image vs. a three-part image from the Celebrate the Miracle Set. The Celebrate the Miracle Menorah image allows for more versatility as the candle holder, the candles and the flames can all be stamped in different colors to create the image. I did use the Happy Hanukkah sentiments from the Celebrate the Miracle Stamp Set on the inside of my card.
