Winter brings with it a unique charm that inspires creativity, especially in card-making. This season, let your imagination flourish with the Stampin' Up! Winterly Tree Tops Stamp Set and Dies from the Nests of Winter Suite Collection. These versatile tools allow you to create beautiful and heartfelt cards for any winter occasions, whether for holidays, thank-you notes, or friendly greetings. In this blog post, we will journey through the steps of crafting a delightful winter card that truly stands out. Create winter seasonal cards for any occasion using the Stampin' Up! Winterly Tree Tops Stamp Set and Dies from the Nests of Winter Suite Collection. Our color theme today is Basic White, and Garden Green, with textures created by the Spotlight on Nature circle dies and the Birchwood 3D embossing folder. Additional colors depend on the birds you select to die cut from the prints in the Nest of Winter Designer Series Paper. The sentiment is stamped in Tuxedo Memento Black ink on Basic with a Garden Green Cardstock accent. Earth Tone Shimmer Gems were added as embellishments to the die cut circle. Thanks to Lynn Dunn for the inspiration for this card.
Crafting Your Card Base: Setting the Stage
To get started, choose a piece of Thick Basic White cardstock measuring 8.5" X 5.5". Fold this cardstock in half to create a crisp base measuring 4.25 X 5.5" This serves as the foundation of your winter-themed creation, providing a neutral backdrop that highlights the vibrant colors and details of your design. The thick cardstock not only lends a sturdy feel but also enhances the overall craftsmanship of your card.
Next, it's time to create a stunning focal point using one of the large Spotlight on Nature Dies. Simply cut out a Basic White circle that serves as the perfect backdrop for your two delightfully die-cut birds from the Nest of Winter Designer Series Paper. Two different sets of birds can be die cut with one of the dies in the Winterly Tree Tops Die set. The contrast of the circle and birds focal point against the basecard backgrounds will draw the recipient's attention, creating visual interest. This thoughtful layering technique adds depth and dimension to your greeting, inviting a closer look at the intricate details you are about to incorporate.
Embossing Elegance: Adding More Texture
Now that your base and focal point are ready, let's add some textual richness to your card. Take a piece of Basic White Cardstock, measuring 4" X 4.25", and dry emboss it using the Birchwood 3D Embossing Folder. These vibrant sections will be affixed to the left and right sides of the cardbase, framing your central elements beautifully. The Garden Green patterned perfectly complements the winter theme, infusing your card with nature's hues.
Finally, to add a dash of sparkle and elegance, embellish your Basic White focal-point circle with Garden Green Earth Tone Shimmer Gems, also from the Nests of Winter Site Collection.
