Rococo Rose and Painted Poppies
With the new January-June 2020 Mini Catalog about to go live on January 3, I wanted to continue to show you what I've been doing with the new Painted Poppies Suite. Today, I'm suing one of the beautiful Designer series papers from the suite. The paper pack is the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Papers. I paired it with Rococo Rose and Basic Black cardstock to create the cards below. I tried it with two different ribbons, and I'm not sure which is my favorite. Leave me a comment below with your vote on which of the two ribbons is your favorite on this card.
The basecard is Rococo Rose. Then the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper is matted with Basic Black.
The sentiment labels are die cut using the Frosted Bouquet Dies, as were the flower elements behind the label. The sentiment and the flower and leave elements were die cut from Basic Black Cardstock. The sentiment is from the Layered With Kindness Stamp Set, another sneak peek of one of the new sets from the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog. It is stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Then, I colored some of the Silver Metallic Pearls with the Dark Black Stampin' Blends Marker and added the to the four corners of the sentiment.
I like my cards to open from the top. They sit better on my card displays, and I can always make them into side opening cards when I need to send them to someone. However, a top-opening card tends to create a problem when adding a horizontal ribbon. Stampin' Up! just gave us a great solution. The new January-June 2020 Mini Catalog includes a punch called the Label Me Fancy Punch. You can see it in the photo above. However, look a littler closer and you'll spot two bonuses with this punch that you are going to love. Notice the small circle at the top of the punch. This punches a perfect little opening when you need to string twine or metallic thread on your card or on a tag. The bottom part of the punch creates a small opening when you want to thread a flat ribbon, like I did on my card below.
I wanted a small opening for my ribbon on the top of my card. I used the punch to punch just the tiny opening I needed. You can barely see the opening when the card is closed. I opened it at the top so you could see it better.
