Trifold Shutter Christmas Card using Stampin' Up! Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper

As most of my Christmas cards were already in the mail, I looked through my holiday papers before retiring them for this year, and I found a beautiful sets of prints in the Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack that I couldn't resist using, even though it is a retired paper set.  I decided to showcase several of the prints in this paper by creating a Trifold Shutter Card design, which ends up as a 3-1/2" X 5-5/8" folded card that fits in our standard-size card envelopes.  When opened, the card measures 10-3/8" X 5-5/8" with fun layers that fold in various directions allowing the card to stand.  I used a Basic Gray basecard, which matched the gray, black and Silver shimmer of the prints in this Specialty Designer Series Paper.  In person, this paper sparkles in the light.  I cut prints from the Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper, added a large die cut snowflake from the retired Wonderful Snowflakes accessories pack, stamped a Merry Christmas sentiment from the Stars At Night Stamp Set, and added several Clear Epoxy Droplets to complete my card.   

The basecard for the card above is Basic Gray Cardstock. After making the vertical score lines on the long side of my base card--listed below--I used my Paper Trimmer to cut the two horizontal lines.  The Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer blade can be set exactly at 1-1/2" up from the bottom on the 1-3/4" score line and then cut until you reach the 7" score line.  Do the same 1-1/2" from the top of the long side, setting the Trimmer blade at the 1-3/4" score line, and cut until you reach the 7" score line.   Then I used several prints from the Stampin' Up! Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper to accent my basecard.  See the layer dimensions below.   

The measurements for the basecard and layers are:

• Basic Gray Card Base:  5-5/8" X 10-3/8"
• Scored on long long side at:  1-3/4, 3-1/2", 7", 8-3/4" 
• Cut 2 horizontal lines 1-1/2" from bottom and 1-1/2" from top of long side beginning at the 1-3/4" mark and ending at the 8-3/4" mark (these are the first and last score lines)
• Using the trees print from the Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper, I cut a first and last panel of 1" X 5-1/2" each
• Using complementary Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper, paying attention to directions of any prints or stripes
• Cut four each:1-1/2" X 1-1/4" 
• Cut two each: 1-1/2" X 2-1/2"
• Cut two each: 3-1/4" X 1-1/4"
• Cut one each: 3-1/4" X 2-1/2" 
• For the sentiment and message on the back side, cut a Basic White panel:  3-1/4" X 2-1/2"

Next, I glued all layers into place. Then, folded and score the card so the center folds go in the opposite directions of the top and bottom folded pieces.   Then I stamped a Merry Christmas Sentiment from the Stampin' Up! Stars At Night Stamp Set in Basic Gray ink onto the center bottom panel.

Finally,  I added a White snowflake from the retired Wonderful Snowflakes pack.  In the center of the snowflake, I added a Clear, Silver Epoxy Droplets from the retired Frosted and Clear Epoxy Droplets pack.   The card is ready for a personal message using the Basic White panel added to the center of the back side of this card.  You'll also want to decorate the outside of your envelope with a snowflake stamp to carry the theme from the card to the envelope before mailing to someone you love.
