Stylish Stems Flowers with Flourishes Leaves

Today's card highlights the Stylish Stems Framelits and the Flourishes Dies.  The flowers on today's card were cut with these Stylish Stems framelits. This was an extremely popular set from the Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog.  The dies and bundles are retiring, and are already sold out.  The coordinating wood mount and clear mount stamp sets -- Special Reasons (142902) -- are still available, and the clear mount Special Reasons stamp stamp set is on sale for 25% off.          
    

The Stylish Stems Framelit dies include the detailed, cut out flowers in two sizes and also includes die cuts for solid backgrounds for each flower.  Each flower is a three-part sandwich.  The Pool Party solid backing, a layer of velum cardstock cut out with the solid background die and then run through the Softly Falling Embossing Folder to create white dots, and then the detailed flower die cut.  The leaves are from another die set called Flourishes, which is carrying over to the new catalog. 
     

The ribbon is a 3/8" stitched satin Pool Party ribbon.  The center of each flower includes a Basic Rhinestone, as does the right side of the banner.  On the second version (below), I switched out the Rhinestones for Basic Pearls.  The Calypso Coral Designer Series Paper (DSP) strip along the bottom of the card is from the new Delightful Daisies DSP.  This is one of my favorite times of the year since I have all of the current Stampin' Up! products to play with as well as a selection of new inks, paper, stamps and dies available from the upcoming June 1 catalog on pre-order for demonstrators.

  

The sentiment is from the Crazy about You stamp set, another retiring set.  This is such a great sentiment set as you can build a wide variety of sentiments from the words in this set.  On the photo above, I created two different sentiments from this set.  This useful set is available in three versions-- wood mounted, clear mounted red rubber, and photopolymer.  All three versions are still available for purchase until May 22 and then, while supplies last until May 31.

Colorful Seasons Summer card using Stampin' Up! set

Colorful Seasons

One of the stamp sets highlighted at OnStage in early April was the Colorful Seasons set.  This set coordinates with the Color Theory Designer Series Papers and both the set, matching dies and DSP are meant to be used all year round.  Today I'm focused on using it to stamp a summer scene.  The set also includes spring blossoms, fall leaves and winter snowflakes.  I love sets like this that can be used all year long and with many different color combinations.        
    

I picked Crushed Curry and one of the coordinating papers from the 6 X 6 Color Theory Designer Series Paper packs--all part of the Color Theory Suite of products. I stamped the chair in Crumb Cake and Crushed Curry.  The flowers are also from the Colorful Seasons set.  I also used a grunge boarder from the Touches of Texture set as an accent at the top of my Whisper White image layer.  I broke out my Aqua painter and painted a very soft Crushed Curry wash over the top boarder.  I also used my aqua painter and ink from my Crumb Cake pad to create "sand" at the bottom of my Whisper White image layer.   
     

The flower blossoms are from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and the images are die cut using the coordinating Seasonal Layers Thinlit Die set.  The upper left corner of the image layer includes one of the new coordinating ribbons from the upcoming catalog.  This is the 3/8" mini chevron ribbon in Crushed Curry.  This new ribbon is extremely soft and it made the cutest little puffy bow for the corner of my card. 

Tip:  These new ribbons add more bulk to the card front than the 3/8" Ruched Ribbons from the current catalog.  I added a loose 4-1/4 X 5-1/2 Whisper White blank card on top of the face of my finished card to ensure this new, slightly bulkier ribbon is protected when it goes through the postage meter.

  

The sentiment is also from the Colorful Seasons stamp set.  This set includes a nice variety of sentiments.  The 2" wide paper behind the image layer is from the Color Theory DSP pack.  These papers look like paint chips on one side and on the opposite side they gradate from crackle  to speckles.  These papers add a great deal of artistic interest and I can't wait to see how everyone uses with their new stamp sets.  With the new catalog coming out June 1, this is one of the first new sets I would add to my Wish List!  See more products that corrdinate with the Color Theory suite plus more samples in the video below.

Fabulous Flamingo

I'm really getting excited about the demonstrator pre-order I'll be able to place on May 2, which is one of the benefits of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  I already have several stamp sets and dies from the new catalog that I was able to order or won as part of the benefits of attending OnStage in early April.  So, today, from my OnStage swag, I'm using the Fabulous Flamingo set.        
    

I picked a Calypso Coral base card and used that color ink for my flamingo.  I found a wonderful complimentary paper from the new Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper (DSP) Pack from the upcoming catalog, and used the mini striped black and white accent paper from the Pop of Pink DSP from the current, main catalog.  

     

I stamped the water in Marina Mist, and stamped the water reeds in Pear Pizzaz.  The flamingo was stamped in two steps.  The body was stamped in Archival Basic Black.  Then another part of this stamp added the legs and color to the body.  Then I decided to finish coloring the body by using Calypso Coral ink pad and an aqua painter, rather than using the third stamp in the set meant to color the body.  I also did a little coloring of the water with an aqua painter and Marina Mist, which didn't show up well in the photograph, but looks really nice in person.    

  

The sentiment is also from the Fabulous Flamingos stamp set.  The set includes several sentiments, but this one was a card going to my Mom, and was perfect for my needs.  I stamped it in Archival Basic Black ink and then used the Stitched Shapes Framelit dies and the Layering Oval framelits Dies to matt the sentiment.  I think I'll be using this fun set a lot this coming year.  It makes me feel like an artist because of the shading and elements I can choose to add.
