Black Butterfly drama

I did a very quick card  today.  It looks striking in real life, but the black on black doesn't photograph very well. think it looks very striking.  I've always loved black and white cards.  They can be very simple yet they can be quite elegant.

The basecard is Thick Whisper White, then a layer of Basic Black, and finally a layer of Whisper White.  The black banner is 2 inches wide and the tag bottom is hand cut.  Tip.  In the center of the bottom cut up about 1/2".  Then cut from the left site to the top of the center cut and then cut from the right edge to the top of the center cut.  Sometimes its just faster to do banners by hand than to search for the punch or  dies.

The butterfly is cut with the Butterfly Thinlits.  You will want to use your Precision Base Plate with your Big Shot to ensure the butterfly cuts cleanly.  Then use the Die brush and the foam pad to remove all of the small pieces cleanly and quickly.

The square the butterfly sits on is the largest square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The butterfly is popped up on Dimensionals cut from the edge of the Dimensional sheet.

Rhinestone Basic Jewels accent the body of the butterfly.  The sentiment is from the Colorful Seasons stamp set, available from the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog which will be released June 1.

Fabulous Flamingo from Stampin' Up!

Fabulous Flamingo stamp set

I'm doing a really quick post today, as I'm behind in putting together my next class and need to finish and post it.  Today's card uses Fabulous Flamingo and the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper.

The basecard is Daffodil Delight and the matt around the flamingo is Calypso Coral.  The green leaves is one of the Delightful Daisy Designer Series papers.

The Fabulous Flamingo, one of the new stamps in the 2017-02018 catalog coming out June 1, is a three-step stamp.  However, I've only been using two of the three stamps and then using ink pad ink and an aqua painter to finish the body of the flamingo.    I love the stamp that makes the water and can't wait to use it with other sets, such as a chairs in the new Colorful Seasons set.  I also colored the water with ink and an Aqua painter.

This card also showcases the new Glitter enamels in Ombre shades for multiple hues in Dapper Denium, Crushed Curry, Berry Burst, and Old Olive.  The new Glitter enamels come in a package of 4 colors and 4 sizes in gradated shades.  Three different sizes of the Crushed Curry Glitter enamels are used on this card.

Glitter Enamel Dots in multiple hues

The  sentiment is from one of my favorite sentiment sets from the Occasions catalog -- Suite Sentiments -- which will retire May 31.  The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black on a Stitched Shapes Circle Die Cut.

Daisy Delight and Berry Burst Sneak Peek from Stampin' Up!

  • Berry Burst -- good enough to eat
  • Color Theory Suite
  • Retiring Items

New Berry Burst from Stampin' Up!

Ohhh my!  I think I have a new favorite color!.  This is my first card using Berry Burst, one of the new InColors, available June 1 in the new Annual Catalog.  Uhhhmm, Uhhmm, Uhmmm!  What a great new color!  This is a bright, bold, rich addition to the Stampin' Up! color family.  I want to melt it with some cream, add sugar, and eat it over French Vanilla ice cream!   I chose one of the Berry Burst crackled papers from the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack and paired it with the Daisy Delight stamp set for today's card.

I used a Berry Burst  basecard and added a background layer of Berry Burst crackle pattern.   The Daisey Delight stamp set was used for both the large Daisey as well as the small daisies stamped as a boarder on the top and bottom of the Whisper White image layer.

It can't be seen in these photos, but the Daisy Delight stamp was stamped twice on the Whisper White background to add fullness before adding the two layers of daisy petals punched using the new Daisy punch.  This stamp set also includes the leaves, two flower centers and a couple of different sentiments, including the one used on the card above.

The photo above used a sentiment from the Crazy About You set, which includes an incredible variety of sentiments and words that can be used to create many different phrases.  The Crazy About You set is on the Retirng List.  The sentiment boarder is from the Rose Garden Thinlit and the Rose Wonder Stamp set.  I cut two of the sentiment panels; one in Lemon Lime Twist and one in Whisper White.  After stamping the sentiment and label boarder, I fussy cut the Whisper White sentiment on the label boarder.  Then I layered it on top of the Lemon Lime Twist die cut sentiment panel.

The center of the Daisy was stamped with one of the detailed stamps in the Delightful Daisy set.  Then a new Clear Faceted Gem was added to the center of the flower.

Recipe:

Stamp: Delightful Daisy, Rose Wonder (label boarder)
Ink:  Basic Black Archival
Paper:  Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack (6 X 6), Whisper White
Accessories:   Rose Garden Thinlit Dies, Clear Faceted Gem, Standard Cutting Pads, Precision Base Plate, Big Shot Platform, Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Stampin' Scrub, Stampin' Mist, Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals

Color Theory Suite Sneak Peek video from Stampin' Up!

I've shown this video previously, but if you haven't had time to watch it, you'll love seeing this new suite.

Papers in the Color Theory Paper Stack, available June 1

The other new product I'm really excited about are the Gold and Clear faceted gems.

Clear Faceted Gems

I used the Clear Faceted Gem on the Berry Burst card above.  In an earlier card I made with Daisy Delight, I used the Gold Faceted Gems.  I predict that these are going to be very popular.
