Valentine Gift Box

This is such a fun box for small gifts.  It folds together and doesn't need any glue to make the box.  It can be decorated for any occasion.  I added a butterfly, bow and heart to use as a valentine gift.  I added a bath  fizzies or bath bomb and some of the Sweet Soiree Ready Shreddie (Yes!, Stampin' Up! has shreds--in white, dark pink and silver) and you're set with a small gift. This is one of the projects we'll make in the February 11 class.

Uses Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper. Instructions on my blog

The base of the box is Berry Burst.  The lid of the box is one of the patterns from the Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper, which includes gold foil accents and brushstroke imagery, a very modern look for your Valentine gift.

The Base of the butterfly is Flirty Flamingo and was cut with the Bold Butterfly Framelit die.  The detailed butterfly is cut from Very Vanilla using the Butterflies Thinlits dies.  The small, gold heart is cut using one of the Sweet & Sassy Framelits dies.  The bow uses the 5/8" Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.

The box base  is 7-1/2 X 7-1/2".  It is scored at 2-1/2" on all four sides.  Then, cut off the corners of each side from scoreline to scoreline.  The photo above shows what the base looks like after removing the corners and before you begin folding.

Score all score lines, then fold in all four corners and fold up the side, until the box base looks like the image above.

Remove the three small squares at each corner, like the lower right corner above

The lid is cut from a 5-3/4 X 5-3/4" DSP.  It is scored at 3/4", and 1-1/2" on all four sides.  Remove the three small squares at each corner, like the photo above.

Score all lines with a bone folder, then fold in the corners, like the photo above, on all four corners.  Begin folding in each of the remaining score lines, forming the lid of the box.  No glue is needed, but if you wish, you can add adhesive to secure the folded flaps in place.

The pieces of this box can be stored flat until needed, so it's great to use for gifts when you travel.  Or, at the end of a catalog season, use your leftover DSP from your projects to create a number of these boxes, then save them flat in a draw or a file folder until needed.  Great fun to have a quick gift box when you have a small thank you gift to give but don't have a lot of time.

Fast Fuse 5-Day Sale begins February 8, 2018

  • Fast Fuse buy One, get TWO Fast Fuse Adhesive refills FREE
  • Fast Fuse orders of $50 earn Free Sale-A-Bration  Gift Selection

FAST FUSE 5-Day Sale February 8-12, 2018

You may remember that last fall, the response to the Stampin' Up! Fast Fuse promotion was phenomenal.  Stampin' Up! didn't have the inventory to keep the deal running, and they promised us another opportunity to purchase Fast Fuse at a significant saving when inventory levels were replenished.

The promotion is here!  Stampin' Up! is offering the Fast Fuse Adhesive deal for five days only--while supplies last!

What's the promotion?  When you buy ONE Fast Fuse Adhesive, you'll get TWO Fast Fuse Adhesive refills for FREE.

The deal will start on February 8 and ends on February 12.  That's five days only--while supplies last.  Based on how quickly Stampin' Up! sold out during the last Fast Fuse promotion, I highly recommend that you place an order as soon as ordering opens on February 8.

If you've never used Fast Fuse Adhesive, you're in for a treat.  I use Fast Fuse Adhesive when I'm creating 3-Dimensional items like the treat boxes I've been making for Valentine gifts.  Fast Fuse holds much better than snail or multipurpose glue.  It is also much faster to use than Tear and Tape.  Its great for holding acetate or Glimmer Paper, which is quite thick.

There are some tips and tricks for using Fast Fuse.  I know it took me a while to master how to alternate the flick to the right on one use and to the left for the next use so that the tape stays centered on the dispenser.   I have to admit that I ruined a couple of my early Fast Fuse dispensers.  Once I watched this helpful video, I understood what I was doing wrong.  Now I Love it and use my Fast Fuse on all my boxes and treat holders.  Take a look at this video on how to use and refill your Fast Fuse Adhesive.

Don't forget.  Your Fast Fuse purchase qualifies towards Free Sale-A-Bration selections.  Combine your order with that stamp set, or kit you've had your eye on in the Occasions Catalog, and select a free gift from the Sale-A-Bration brochure for each $50 you order.
