Springtime Foils can be colored to match any card elements

  • Use Blends to customize papers and ribbons to match
  • Don't miss the March 25 Card Class
  • Just days to earn Sale-A-Bration gift selections

Celebrate You Thinlits and Springtime Foils

Today's card shows how easy it is to use Blends to coordinate items on a card.  Using Blends I was able to create a matching ribbon and to color elements in Springtime Foils Designer Series Paper to match the Soft Sky cardstock I selected for this card.

I used a basecard of Thick Whisper White, then a layer of Soft Sky, and then a layer on half the card using Springtime Foils.  The Soft Sky layer was dry embossing using Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

I used the Celebrate You die cuts, a free Sale-A-Bration selection that will carry over to the new catalog in June, as my sentiments.  I cut the "celebrate" out of Silver foil paper to match the silver foil in the Springtime Foils DSP, and to match the silver metallic edge on the ribbon.  Then I die cut "You" out of Bermuda Bay cardstock.

As I mentioned earlier, I used the Soft Sky Blends to color in the leaves on the Springtime Foils Designer Series Paper (DSP), and I used it again to color the ribbon.   The Springtime Foils is available as a free Sale-A-Bration selection until March 31.   Don't you love all of the matching silver on this card?

Golden Butterfly and Beautiful Day stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Gold Beautiful Day Card

Today's card uses the Butterflies Thinlits and Beautiful Day stamp set to create this beautiful card.  I often heat emboss several blanks when I have all my embossing supplies out.  So, this gold embossed butterfly was sitting on my desk, just waiting to be used.  I had finished organizing my Blends earlier in the day, which made it so easy to grab the colors I needed to create this wonderful butterfly. Does anyone else find their Blends scattered all over their work space after finishing a card?  I just love working with colors!  Blends are the best.  I never understood why I was always drawn to working with colors until I stumbled upon a color test yesterday.  I learned that not everyone sees colors the same way.  No, I'm not talking about someone who is color blind.  I found an online color test that shows I see more colors than most people see.  Apparently, only a small subset of people are able to see this many different color shades. I know...strange.

For today's card, I used a basecard of Tangerine Tango, then a layer of Peekaboo Peach, and then a layer of Whisper White.  Under the butterfly image, I cut a square of Whisper White and framed it in Gold Foil paper.

I used the Butterfly Thinlit to cut a delicate butterfly out of Gold Foil.  For the larger butterfly, I heat embossed the outline in Gold Embossing powder and then colored it with Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie Blends alcohol-based Makers and then added some accents with Light Calypso Coral Blends.  I secured the gold foil butterfly to the large butter fly with Glue Dots.

The sentiment is also from the Beautiful Day stamp set and is stamped in Tangerine Tango.

I added three large Gold sequins from the Metallics Sequins Assortment, which includes, black, copper, gold, clear and silver sequins in a variety of shapes.

I'm having so much fun with this stamp set.  I was so glad to hear from Stampin' Up! that this is one of the Occasions catalog set that will carry over to the new catalog coming out in June.
