Dragonfly Garden used for an In Color Monochromatic card

Here is another card I created for a swap with Demonstrators.  This swap was to create a Monochromatic card with one of the new In Colors.  I'm using Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set with the coordinating Dragonflies Punch.  The In Color I'm using is Fresh Freesia.  I'm also using the In Color Shimmer Vellum in Fresh Freesia, stamped with a Dragonfly image in Highland Heather and punched using the Dragonflies Punch.  I added a little bling with the Pastel Pearls on the sentiment.  I also used the  one of the prints from the In Color 6" X 6" Designer Series Paper Assortment to add a subtle geometric background to my card.    

The basecard for this card is Fresh Freesia Cardstock, one of the new In Colors this year.  Then, the next layer is Basic White.  Finally, a layer of one of the prints from the 6" X 6" Designer Series Paper Assortment.  

The image layer is Basic White Cardstock.  I stamped the floral from the Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set in Fresh Freesia ink on it.  Then, I stamped one of the dragonflies from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set onto a piece of Fresh Freesia 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum and punched them out using the Dragonflies Punch.  Tip to save on the Shimmer Vellum used:  I cut a 2" strip from the Fresh Freesia Shimmer Vellum.  Then I found that I could stamp several dragonflies close to each other with the wings of one dragonfly, fitting  close to the body of the dragonfly next to it.  That way, I could punch out just the large dragonfly with the Dragonflies punch without wasting paper by punching out the tiny butterfly.   Or you could cut a wider piece of Shimmer Vellum, punch out both the large and the tiny dragonefly, and use the tiny dragonfly to decorate the inside of your card.      

  

Then, I die cut a sentiment shape out of Basic White Cardstock using the Scalloped Contour Dies, and stamped one of the sentiments from Dragonfly Garden in Fresh Freesia ink onto it before mounting it on dimensionals.  I added a little bling using one of the Pastel Pearls. 

They say that the brighter and lighter a color, the more happy and optimistic it will make you feel.  I believe that to be true!  Especially with our new Fresh Freesia.  When I photographed the collection of Fresh Freesia cards I made for this card swap, I knew I would be ordering a lot more of this new In Color and Shimmer Paper.   Making these cards put me in such a good mood!  Saving money also puts me in a good mood.   Find  ways to save with this month's specials.  See below. Order from my Stampin' Up! shopping site  24 X 7.

Butterfly greeting card using Hand-Penned Suite and Brilliant Butterflies Dies

I can't stop playing with the Hand-Penned Suite!  I love the colors, I love the soft floral prints in the Designer Series Paper.  I love that so many other Stampin' Up! dies and punches work so well with it.  Today I'm mixing several additional dies and papers with the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper.  If you haven't discovered the 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum paper, you're going to want to add it to your Shopping List.  I used the Pale Papaya Vellum from this Vellum pack behind the wings of a Pale Papaya Butterfly created using the Brilliant Wings Dies and loved the results!  You will too!.  I also used the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder for the first time today.  Oh my gosh!  What a lovely background this embossing folder creates.  And both sides of the embossed paper give your projects a different feel.  I added a butterfly using the Brilliant Wings Dies, and the Garden Green layer was created using the Ornate Layers Dies I used the Layering Circles Dies to create the sentiment layer, and you might want to try the Double Oval Punch as an alternative for your sentiment.       

The basecard for this card is Basic White Thick Cardstock.  Then another layer of Basic White dry embossed using the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder.  Then a Garden Green layer die cut using the Ornate Layers Dies.  The image layer uses the Pale Papaya as a matt for one of the prints from the Hand-Penned 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper Pack.

The Pale Papaya Butterfly was Die cut using the Brilliant wings Dies.  I also use other dies in this set to die cut the solid butterfly from 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum.  This is such a beautiful matt for the butterfly.  I tried the butterfly without this matt initially, but the print behind the butterfly showed through the die cuts in the detailed butterfly causing the butterfly to fade into the Hand-Penned print.  

  

I created the sentiment layering using two of the circles from the Layering Circles Dies.  The bottom layer is a scalloped circle from Pale Papaya Cardstock.  I added a few Genial Gems to the circle for a little bling.  The sentiment is from the Forever Fern Stamp Set,  I stamped the sentiment in Garden Green ink onto the Basic White die-cut circle. 

I love mixing and matching my stamps dies and papers when creating cards.  Its part of my creative process to see which items work with each other, even if they weren't originally part of a coordinating suite or bundle.  Of course, that's one of the benefits of working with Stampin' Up! products.  You can stretch your crafting investment when colors, stamps and tools work well together.  Find more ways to save with this month's specials.  See below. Order from my Stampin' Up! shopping site  24 X 7.
