Masculine Birthday Card using Exploring In Color Paper Pumpkin Kit

I needed a masculine Birthday Card and reached for my Exploring in Color Paper Pumpkin Past Kit.  This kit also had an add-on of matching In Color Cards and Envelopes that worked perfectly for the card I made, and both the past kit, item 163108|$21.50, and the coordinating cards and envelopes, Item 163113 | $10 USD, are still available on the StampinUp.com website!  I love using my stash of products when I need to make a card.  I used the vertical card fronts of one of the Exploring In Color Cards and Envelopes add-on and cut it so that I could use a portion on the front of this fun-fold birthdays card, another portion under the flap, and a third portion on the inside of the card.  My husband thought it was a very special card!  High praise from a very particular fellow-creative.  I used a color theme of Misty Moonlight, Boho Blue, Copper Clay, and Basic White.  I also used the Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder on the Boho Blue inner card front to add texture to the Boho Blue inner card front.  I used a birthday sentiment from the Go To Greetings Stamp Set and stamped it in Boho Blue.  I found a scrap of a Copper Clay Designer Series Paper and quickly made use of it for the triangles on my card.   I've used this card layout recently and you'll find the cutting dimensions for it here.   
   

 

The basecard for the card above is Misty Moonlight Cardstock.    Then a layer of Boho Blue Cardstock, which is an additional foldout.  The triangle flaps are a  dot print from my stash of retired 12" X 12" Designer Series Paper, as I continue to use up some of my retired papers. On my card, the main image area is a section of one of the fronts from a card in the Exploring In Color Card & envelopes add on.  I cut a 1-1/4" section off the left side to uses elsewhere, and then cut a 2"-1/2" piece of the outdoor design and trimmed it to 4" to use with the Copper Clay matte on the front of the card.  

The measurements for these layers are:

• Misty Moonlight for Card Base:  5-1/2" X 4-1/4"
• Boho Blue Card Base - 5-1/4" X 8", scored at 4" 
• Any Complementary Designer Series Paper - 3-1/2" X 3-1/2" 
• Copper Clay for Front Flap and inside flap - 2-3/4 X 4-1/4"; and 1-3/4" X 5-1/2"
• Card front with Outdoor design:  Cut 1-1/2 X 5-1/2"- trimmed to 1-1/2 X 4-1/4", 2-1/2 X 5-1/2"- trimmed to 2-1/2 X 4" and 1/4" X 5-1/2; trimmed to 1/4" X 5" 
• Basic White - 5" X 3-3/4" and 1" X 2-3/8 (Sentiment)

Next, I cut the 3-1/2" X 3-1/2" piece of Designer Series Paper in half diagonally creating two tringles.  I scored them at at 1/2" from the long side, trimmed the back side of each piece, and attached them with glue to the back side of my Misty Moonlight matte, leaving the front side loose. I used the Metal Plate 3D Embossing folder to dry emboss the front of the folded Boho Blue inner card.   Then I attached the folded Boho Blue basecard to the Misty Moonlight Basecard matte.  I layered the 2-1/2 X 4" outdoor scene to the  2-3/4 X 4-1/4" Copper Clay Matte.   Then I carefully positioned the layer equal distanced between the two Designer Series Paper triangles and glued just the top of the image area matte to the top triangle point.  The bottom is left unattached.  I stamped the Happy Birthday onto the 1" piece of Basic White in Boho Blue, and layered it so that it would not show when the top layer was closed.  I also added the sentiment with Dimensional on the outer edges so that I could tuck the point of the bottom triangle of Designer Series paper under the sentiment, which can easily be pulled out when opening the card.

Finally,  I on the inside of the card, I added the Basic White 5" X 3-3/4" to the Boho Blue Card Base.  I also added the 1/4" X 5" remaining strip of the outdoor scene along the left edge of the Basic White card, carrying the outdoor theme through to all of the layers of this card.  The card is ready for a personal message before using one of the coordinating envelopes from the Cards and Envelope set and mailing it to someone you love.
